'Contractors' and how it became a dirty word

Seems like Rumsfeld and Cheney began selling their offices for favors during the Nixon Administration. They've turned it into an art form over the last thirty years. From Mother Jones, how Dick 'n Don started the trend toward using 'civilian contractors' instead of government employees.

Now, I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but why does it seem this whole Neocon, Christo-Fascist effort to mold the U. S. into a Christian theocracy rose from the ashes of Watergate? It looks as if these guys sat down in the late seventies and drafted a plan to sieze control of the government with the financial help of big business patrons. Fortunately, Reagan wasn't a devout 'true-believer' in the cause. The claims by some on the far left that the Bush Administration will figure out a way to cancel the elections this November in order to retain power are becoming more plausible. Okay, I'll take off my tinfoil hat now.
