Independence Day!

Gonna be home today with Mrs. F and the Monster. One of our traditions is to watch '1776' together. Now, I'm not big on Broadway, musicals specifically (the Mrs. is so we go semi-regularly), but I first saw '1776' when I was about 10 years old on a school trip. It made a lasting impression on me, made me think about patriotism and what these men did that had never been done before. The birth of this great nation was a feat of statesmanship and a goodly amount of luck. The United States is a unique experiment in governance and has been the blueprint for others since. We should be proud of this country, even though we have had some dismal leadership over the last 200-odd years (present Administration included) but we overcome that and make ourselves better. As you get drunk and stupid at your barbecue today, stop and think about what this day really means and explain it to your kids. Americans are living proof that the impossible really isn't. Happy 4th from the Fixer family!
